Personal Project 'Accessibility in the P.N.S.A.C.'


 The P.N.S.A.C. contains several pedestrian roads and bicycle roads. Furthermore, because of heavy rainfalls in autumn and winter, in the chalck the proces of cave formation has taken place. Many of them are accessible at least  if you can localize them, but for tourists the knowledge about it is not available.
 


During 2012 - 2013, I want to make this northern area of the P.N.S.A.C. more accesible for rural tourism and school groups. I want to provide maps and descriptions of mountainbike roads, walking roads and accesible caves. The difficulty of the road, the length and a brief description will be made everytime.

• 12 December .  Finishing first biking road map in military format.

• 27 october. Caves exploration

One cave is found near Portela Vale do Espinho. The technical drawing contains all the dimensions inside.

Recently, we tried to make the cave more accesible for kids by building a stairs.  The goal is to prepare this place for visits.

Recently I received the files to learn to distinguish between the different ultrasonic emissions of bats.
When the period of hibernation will end (this is the time that they are sleeping in the caves), I hope to make some progress in this practice.

• 1 march. BTT roadbooks - an official format for mountainbikers

I finished a first roadbook for mountainbikers in this area. It's not more then a code with symbols, a tool constructed in order to follow a certain road. If you have a distance-counter on your bike, you can use this books. I spent a lot of time making the first version, because I had to find a way to visualise all crosspoints, to measure the distances between and to present them clearly and properly.

4th of April- Formats of walking roads and accesibilty for mountaineers.

Climbing roads are scarse in this region. The amount of trails is limited because this area is protected like a natural parc. Allthough, some areas are suitable for rappel and climbing.

The walking roads also have profiles with all the altitudes. Hikers will know better what to expect form a hike.

 28th of June - 15 August - Making interactive walking roads for Municipality of Porto de Mos

Until this time the weather didn't permit to create something useful.
